PalatinaSEARCH unites the catalogue descriptions of the Palatina manuscripts held at Heidelberg University Library and the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana as well as the bibliographic metadata for around 13.000 prints, called the „Stampati Palatini“
PalatinaSEARCH provides the possibility to search for contexts of the manuscripts’ origin as well as codicological and palaeographic data. It enables a selective search for previous owners, authors, titles, incipits, subjects or types of texts.
Currently all descriptions of the Cod. Pal. germ. 1–495 printed
manuscripts are searchable online in full, the descriptions for Cod. Pal.
germ. 496–670 are also in great parts entered into the database. After
the catalogue has been published at the end of 2016, the descriptions
for Cod. Pal. germ. 671–848 will also be added.
The metadata of all four manuscript catalogues concerning the Palatini
latini published in print so far will successively be entered into the
database. The descriptive data produced during our current subject
cataloguing project will also be made available and searchable in
Palatina/SEARCH during the course of the project period.
While working on the project „Digitization of the Codices Palatini
latini in the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana in Rome“, which started in
2012, further manuscripts will be put online continuously and will be
catalogued amongst others within the next few years as part of the above
mentioned cataloguing project.
The database has been implemented with the software Koha and is being hosted by the Bibliotheksservice-Zentrum Baden-Württemberg (BSZ).
